What about Pray and Stay?
Share
Someone said to me what if I want to pray and stay. What if I don’t want to walk away? I guess there’s different types of people. There are people that they plan to stay and they’re good but I’ve had different circumstances. The circumstances that I’ve had, I wanted to walk away to avoid conflict, to avoid being fired, and to keep friendships and families. I’ve had to pray and walk away. I had to walk away because I couldn’t say what I wanted to say. When I was a little girl, my mother taught me that if you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all and so this is why I have to walk away— because of my mouth. Donald Lawrence just released a song that we were singing in with the international choir that talks about words not saying words that will hurt people. Words are powerful. I’m not a mean person and I don’t want to hurt people's feelings. I spend a lot of time in prayer. I know that God doesn’t want me to hurt people with my words and so as a result, I need to pray and walk away. Maybe you don’t have this problem but I’ve been fighting this problem my whole life. Through prayer God has given me the strength and ability to be able to control my thoughts, my words what I say and my actions. Am I 100% all the time in control? Ha ha that’s funny, no not by a long stretch! This is why God made me put pray and walk away on talk-shirts and make bracelets so that when somebody says something crazy to me, maybe just maybe she’ll remember to look at her wrist, and remember to pray, and walk away. Remember you’re stronger than your circumstances when I am weak then I am strong. How is that possible? It’s through God, it’s through prayer and through other people praying for you. That’s how you’re stronger. It’s not you by yourself, it's you with God and that’s how I’m able to go on. That's how I’m able to function, It’s not always about you but it’s what God wants to do with you and through you. I said yes and maybe I didn’t understand, at that time what I was really saying yes to. I knew that I was in a dark place and I wanted to end my life. I knew that my first husband punching on me and giving me bruises on my body was not the life that God had for me. I knew there had to be something else, so I said yes. I would surrender what I thought were good decisions at 25 years old and I knew nothing but I put my trust in the Lord and said yes: yes to your way and yes to your will and now 30 years later, my life is totally different. I’m not saying I haven’t had some hard times because I have, but I know who to go to. I go to my Father. I go to my praying friends. I praise the Lord. I pray and fast and I wait. I stand and this too shall pass. I remember Evangelist Tim Storey said you’re either in the storm, coming out of a storm, or getting ready to go in the storm. I thought really. I just didn’t get it and really after 10+, 15+ years, I really see that it’s true and this is why you have to be prepared. You have to be praying always and pray without ceasing because you don’t know when the next storm is coming and you don’t know what that storm is going to be, but God will strengthen you to go through the storm to make it out of the storm on the other side. Amen. I hope this encouraged you. God bless you. Pray and walk away.
